JCDecaux Hungary
JCDecaux Hungary operated in an outdoor advertising market where pro-government forces vastly outspent the opposition on billboard campaigns, systematically blurring the line between legitimate public information and partisan propaganda. The company provided space for CÖF and other government-aligned civil organisations (GONGOs) that deployed anti-EU, anti-migration, and anti-opposition messaging financed with public funds. At the same time, Fidesz-linked outdoor advertising firms offered extreme discounts exclusively to the ruling party, distorting the conditions for political communication. Multiple analyses have characterised the structure of this market and the opacity of advertising rates as a deliberate manipulation of the information environment.
