Gellért Jászai
Gellért Jászai, as CEO of 4iG, has become one of the most politically connected business beneficiaries of the Fidesz system, presiding over a company whose explosive growth owes far more to state patronage than to market competition. Investigations by Direkt36 revealed that billions in state funds were secretly channeled into 4iG through private equity vehicles, enabling the company to acquire defence and telecommunications firms from the state under opaque conditions. The acquisition of Vodafone Hungary drew particular scrutiny, with analysts and critics questioning both the role of the state in facilitating the deal and whether the price reflected genuine market value. Jászai sits at the centre of a pattern in which a private company becomes systemically critical precisely because of its political connections, making it too embedded to scrutinise and too profitable to reform.
