Gyula Balásy built a de facto monopoly over state communications tenders through his companies Lounge Design and New Land Media, with procurement conditions routinely tailored to match his firms' specific capabilities. His companies served as the primary contractors behind the government's major propaganda campaigns, including national consultations and waves of anti-EU and anti-migrant billboards, all funded at prices that vastly exceeded market rates. Former Student Loan Center CEO Péter Magyar publicly accused Balásy of delivering substandard work at several times the going market price, pointing to systematic overpricing of public contracts. The cumulative effect has been the concentration of billions in state communications spending within a single Fidesz-aligned group, crowding out genuine competition and directing public funds toward politically motivated advertising.
